As usual, Lucy Kellaway’s column is a fountain of witty wisdom  on work; here (hope you have an FT subscription) she talks about some intriguing recent research regarding the “role traps” initially identified in the 1970s as ways in which women in business were “tokenised”, by slotting them into one of four stereotypes of women in power: Mother, Seductress, Pet and Iron Maiden. It appears that these role traps are alive and well in 2012, but that women are now slipping into these roles voluntarily and finding ways to use them to their advantage.
